About the case

Spotify’s The Drop Weekly is an in app experience created to bring listeners closer to the pulse of music culture. Every Friday, Spotify’s editors break down the biggest new releases, highlight cultural moments, and introduce emerging artists, creating a space where discovery feels effortless and alive.

We were entrusted with creating the sound for The Drop Weekly, capturing that feeling of anticipation, the instant just before something new begins. The sound starts with a gentle needle drop and the subtle crackle of vinyl, recalling the tactile experience of listening. It unfolds with motion and texture before ending in a single clear droplet, a small but vivid moment that signals the start of something new.

We explored tone, space, and sonic contrast until we found a sound that feels unmistakably like Spotify, a signal that opens the experience and sets the tone for what follows, energetic, curious, and constantly evolving.

The result is a sonic identity that reflects what The Drop Weekly stands for, the excitement of discovery and the connection between people and the music they love.
